Missy

Missy - a "Special Needs" Rescue Case

Missy was approximately four years old when she was surrendered to Canadian Border Terrier Welfare. She was a special needs case while wonderful with people she lacks the skills to interact appropriately with her own species and is not dog, cat or small animal friendly.

Such a dog is not easy to place and even finding the right foster home can be a challenge. We were very fortunate in having Brad and Lisa willing to take her in without a time frame for placement.

Brad amd Lisa worked wonders with her, consistently applying positive reinforcement, keeping her safe from her own shortcomings while at the same time taking her places, and giving her the opportunity to be a real family dog.

Consequently, we were overjoyed when 11 months after acceting her as a foster, Brad and Lisa advised us that Missy had her forever home - with them.

People like Brad and Lisa are the gems of the fostering world, and truly epitomize the saying on our main page.

"Saving one dog may not change the world, but for that one dog the world has changed!":
